Middleton - 'One of the finest villages in the county' - Derbyshire Life'
Located in the hill village of Middleton by Wirksworth Greenacres cottage is set in over an acre of gardens and woodland which is great for bird watching.
Greenacres is an annex to our own home, sleeps 4 and is adjacent to the High Peak Trail and near to Wirksworth, Cromford, Matlock, Matlock Bath and Carsington Water.
Cromford (in the Derwent Valley World Heritage site ) is the home of the Arkwright Museum. It has a good shopping outlet centre on site, as well as working mills showing how the textiles were produced years ago. Narrow boat trips are available on Cromford canal.
Heritage enthusiasts will enjoy the Ecclesbourne valley railways in nearby Wirksworth, Steeple Grange light railway a short walk along the High Peak Trail and the excellent Tramway Museam in Crich across the valley. Haddon hall and Chatsworth House are a short drive away.
Climbers are spoilt for choice with the gritstone Black Rocks a short walk away and superb limestone crags nearby. Walkers can plan routes direct from the cottage or simply select one from one of the two walking guides produced in Middleton.
Off road parking is available on the cottage drive and a regular local bus service is on hand.
We have a secure cycle storage / workshop for these wishing to take advantage of the superb cycling routes in the area - some adjacent to our garden - and we can offer advice if required.
Give us a call if you have any questions, we will be happy to help.
Hope to see you soon
